Rideau Canal Opening Commemoration

On the northwest corner of Beckwith Street South and Canal Street and seemingly a part of the Smiths Falls War Memorial stands a small stone (in need of repair) commemorating the opening of the Rideau Canal.

Whatever had been here and the story it told it no longer tells it.
