Lending A Helping Hand at the Greely Branch of the Ottawa Public Library

This isn't strictly a memorial. It isn't even unique. It does commemorate the opening of the Greely branch of the Ottawa Public Library, so that's good enough for me to include it in this blog.

The statue is a bronze sculpture, named Lending A Helping Hand, of a girl teaching a younger boy how to read. Councilor Doug Thompson gifted it to commemorate the branch's opening in March of 2011.

The sculpture is from the Randolph Rose Collection catalogue. The Randolph Rose Collection in Yonkers, New York, specializes in hand made bronze sculptures. The sculptures are produced using the lost wax casting method.
