On June 24, 1886, Prime Minster John A. Macdonald laid the cornerstone of this Methodist church. The Fallowfield community, with a population of 150, was part of the Nepean Township in Carleton County. An article titled Fallowfield Items in the January 27, 1887 edition of the Ottawa Journal said, "The new Methodist Church, it is expected, will be opened next month." The Methodist church opened in 1888. The Methodists and Presbyterians shared the church building. On June 25, 1925 the United Church formed and the Methodist building became the Fallowfield United Church.
