SHAPING THE LANDSCAPE
The Ring Dam was built between 1907 and 1909, and measures some 400 metres (437.4 yd) long - the length of four football fields. The Ring Dam regulates water flow through the Chaudière complex. It has been staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ever since it went into service. Dam operators insert or remove stop logs in each of the 50 spans to control the Ottawa River's flow.

Le barrage-voûte a été construit entre 1907 et 1909 et mesure près de 400 mètres de long, soit la longueur de quatre terrains de football. Il régule la circulation de l'eau dans le complexe des Chaudières. Des employés y travaillent 24 heures sur 24 et 365 jours par an depuis sa mise en service. Les opérateurs de barrage insèrent ou retirent des batardeux dans chacune des travées afin de contrôler le flux de la rivière des Outaouais.
