Lansdowne Terrace

The Lansdowne Terrace heritage property occupies a location south of MacKay Street between Queen Victoria Street and Keefer Street.

This Georgian inspired terrace house was named after the 15th Marquess of Lansdowne, who became the Governor General in 1883. The terrace is typical of speculative residential construction of its time, and is evidence of the transformation of New Edinburgh from a mill village to and upper middle class enclave.

Ces maisons en rangée refletant l'influence de l'époque des Rois George porte le nom du 15e Marquis de Lansdowne, qui fut Gouverneur General en 1883. Elles constituent un bon example d'habitations residentielles construites aux fins de speculation a cette époque et temoignent de la transformation de New Edinburgh qui, du village meunier qu'il était, est devenue une enclave de la haute bourgeoisie
