Sweet Corner Park

Sweet Corner Park occupies the southwest corner of Winchester Main Street and St Lawrence Street in Winchester, Ontario.

Diane's Garden

On this site stood, Aaron Sweet & Company's "The Big Store" which was built around 1870.

It served the local community with basic needs and hardware supplies. Subsequent owners also used this building as a general store until its demise on October 19, 1983, when a fire tore through the century old building. The original outline of the Sweet store roof & chimney still remain, etched on the brick wall above the mural.

The original owner, Aaron Sweet, was an instrumental figure in the area including serving as Winchester's first reeve.

This "Sweet Corner Park" was constructed in the Sweet's honour for the heritage and contribution their family provided to our community.
