50 Horse Hitch

The 50 Horse Hitch commemorates the celebration of Navan Fair's 50th anniversary with a hitch consisting of 50 Clydesdale horses. The memorial stands in front of the Navan Memorial Centre and Arena on the south side of Colonial Road between Fairgreen Avenue and Delson Drive.








Erected to commemorate

"50 HORSE HITCH"

On Sunday, August 13, 1995, fifty Clydesdale horses were hitched together to honour the 50th Anniversary of the Navan Fair. The Hitch was driven for 3km through the streets of Navan by Willard McWilliams and witnessed by over 50,000 spectators. The even't huge success was due to the tremendous support from Community Volunteers, the Ottawa Valley Clydesdale Association and the Navan Fair. This Monument replicates the Hitch leaders, Tony and Duke.

Le dimanche 13 août 1995, cinquante chevaux Clydesdale ont été attelés ensemble pour honorer le 50 ième anniversaire de la Foire de Navan. Plus de 50 000 spectateurs étaient témoins lorsque Willard McWilliams a mené l'attelage sur un trajet de 3km dans les rues de Navan. Le succés de cet événement est du à l'enorme contribution offerte par bénévoles de la communauté, de l'association Clydesdale de l'Ontario ainsi que de la Foire de Navan. Ce monument est une reproduction des chefs de l'attelage, Tony et Duke.
